Well I came here for an alternative ending. The conclusion is that the anime adapted and added the best of novel. I like this Gilbert more than in movie but battle ready Violet loses to Violet shown in anime as like in novel author still tries to keep the part that she is ex soldier and that actually maybe ruins the feel of her transformation into person from being only "tool". Still I appreciate the story for the fact that it made anime happen.

P.s numeration begins from chapter prologue so 2 and 3 chapter I mentioned can be considered as 3 and 4
2 ND chapter was good so far relationship between
Dietfried and Violet came to good closure as he hates her because she killed his comrades but as well as was afraid of her. And she also faintly remembered her master though wanted to pay debt which in her perspective was him taking her to civilization and eventually Gilbert. Once Gilbert became essential part of this relation we see the other part of D which shows that he actually regret what he did and what hit different "Oh good I want to be a good person" phrase. People do change for loved ones and that was a good one.

3 Rd Chapter is actually fire the main theme is Claudia Hodgins and his 4 employeers from foundation. Because of accident flood they were gathered together on their workplace and spent food time together reminiscing the events they were through. But the peak comes in the ends between CH and Violet where blooms his feeling as a parent who still wants to be needed and she shows the same to him so they exchanged the promise to take some luggage when it will become too heavy.

4 (5) chapter prepared a great ground for peak I hope so cuz next chapter is the last for ever after. This one was also interesting for me because it all was but letters no real time dialogue which created vibe of nostalgia how people used to talk while apart. Also what hit me hard is Violet after I got used to think that she always acts cold now she resembles a human at loss still not a person nor a beast anymore either that has inner conflict.

Last chapter THAT WAS GOOD like I have been hyped after previous chapter and this one almost didn't disappoint there we finally was relatable side story character that has same conflicts as Violet like is it embarrassing to chase dream / yearning for someone you love. Idk why author let us imagine their actual ever after but we'll I will look into final letters and see. Also what I noticed while reading and comparing to anime that in novel the letters meta narrative isn't that significant as it was in anime. Though it doesn't make the original bad (let's just pretend we didn't see any fight sequence and Violet yield big axe) here we got improvement for side characters around Violet. They keep living in the world's as it was there was no fairy tale events. This volume consisted the most banger chapters of all series.
The novel is better with romance, bonding themes.

So far 3 Rd chapter is peak that was not in anime but made a big impact on how I perceive Benedict and Violet relationship. About taking and cherishing new life Claudia gave him and becoming true to yourself attempt to leave world but persuaded to live cuz life worths that no matter difficulty, Violet prostetic arm as metafoře what we have done can't be undone her military past and his mercebary but also a sign of a reborn her new arms and name as the latter's name as well. Also there is a hint about Violet past (so called brother, military institute, drugs to improve physical abilities but erasing memories, attempt to escape, brother on shore sister on unknown island alone with no memory but to fight).
4 th chapter also surprised me for real the hinted relationship of Benedict and Cattleya came to surface, though they both felt lonely that they wanted to have someone by their side, the story wrote good because as for Cattleya she had a Lot of options to date and eventually marry but it was that breaking point meeting Chris and him being honest about the futility of marriage as it it made her realize that she want to be in relationships in order to love not the obligation of society. Their interaction damn cute. As for Benedict for who romantic relationship is something rather distant he also mentioned that he cannot treat her like other women and here plays rather his trauma that no one would come for him (before picked up by Claudia) but when these words were pronounced by the girl he had some feeling for, the puzzle completed.

And the 5th chapter Don't have anything to say, author keep throwing bangers now with Hodgins and Gilbert, now Gilbert's relationship with Violet makes sense cause basically they were "tools" of someone so in love law only people that are alike can create a genuine relationship. That is pity it was not covered in main story but now that's it expanded it looks better. Now we know that Gilbert treated everything and everyone as an asset in order to reach goals given by clan not him but than one of the best character of this novel Claudia Hodgins pops up and becomes Gilbert exception as one true friend as well as she tried to show Violet different path so did he do for Gilbert at this point. And damn Gilbert also wrote letters to Violet without sending omg.

The best part got anime adaptation everything else is actually going nowhere this is so bad I hardly understand how this got 20+ volumes. Every time I hoped author would make a good move turned out as disappointment at some point I thought he himself tried to sabotage the series. Definitely not worth time spent.

Volume 15 Is the best so far.
Well, I finished reading And honestly this was mid story wise. The advantages were the character design, insane detailed battle frames and a basic happy end, Kankuro, Tenma and Shigen, insanely depictured the power of love between Benio and Rokuro (together there are no obstacle kind of thing). If I would like to return and refer to the story I should pick 15 and 35 th volumes as the best imo. Everything else is just didn't appear appealing. While reading something always fell off as If eating candy that is to sweet even thought not justified by plot, author led the story as he felt and it turned out like that.

Great mc build up (her appearance too), story that keeps your atention till the end, and conclusion is also great mc didnt give up her kindness and fullfilled in what was put on her shoulders

Better than the adaption, but nothing serious, by this time dont remember detaily but wait for your lover fór 20 years sounds agonizing.

The most outstanding characters are Rem, Vash and Wolfwood everything else felt as blank as possible to me. Like the Vash for him keeping his word throughout the whole series. Rem's idea about blank ticket to future everyone has second chance kind of thing. And redemption arc Wolfwood w Livio was insane (volume 10). Also not bad conclusion Vash not killing Knives and then Knives saving him and using last bit of power to create apple tree. Only disadvantage /contradiction is Vash philosophy saving bandits who could kill others, hoping for utopia where everyone live in peace although at least in manga it was for him to become a bridge between plants and people. That being said they needed Vash to stop the conflict. But as for me too long build up it could end earlier. More detailed lore, plants, Knives motivation human allies from space. Anime got a better rating but I don't remember why I left it there so if I one day rewatch I will edit the comment.
